Reading up on Domino’s shopping guides is like having your own personal product concierge. We do the tedious part—deep-dive research, hands-on testing, and tapping experts for advice—so all you have to do is hit “add to cart.” That’s why we call them Simply the Best.
If you celebrate Christmas, nothing hits quite like an Advent calendar to kick off the holiday season. The daily ritual of popping open a paper door or digging into a felt pocket for a surprise treat is satisfyingly nostalgic. The Best Unique Advent Calendars
Astrid & Miyu 12 Day Earring Advent Calendar
If you’re shopping for someone extra-special this holiday season, may we suggest a gift that keeps on giving? Astrid & Miyu’s collection of 2023 Advent calendars just dropped, and they might be the most luxurious jewelry offering we’ve come across to date. Choose between two 12-day boxes filled with either rhodium silver or 18-karat gold plated earrings, from dainty huggies to hoops to studs worth $800. By the end, your giftee will have everything they need for the ultimate ear stack. Or consider the 24-day options, filled with double the amount of accessories in the form of necklaces, bracelets, and rings—a lump sum of $1,900 for $955.
Galison Andy Warhol 12 Days of Puzzles Christmas Countdown
There are a number of puzzle-based Advent calendars out there, but not nearly as many featuring artwork by the iconic Andy Warhol. This whimsical countdown includes 12 different paintings and prints constructed from 90% recycled paper and soy-based inks. It’s a new arrival at Galison, a brand that transforms all sorts of imagery into puzzles, games, stationary, decor, and more at a palatable price point.
Papier Stationery Advent Calendar
Papier’s first Advent calendar has arrived, hiding a treasure trove of British stationery and other desk accessories—think: scalloped sticky notes, metallic pencil sharpeners and clips, and sophisticated notepads—to delight your workstation. Contents are covered in shimmery boxes of all shapes and sizes with the quality you’d expect of the London-based brand. Though it warns there are only a limited number available, so this is your sign to scoop it up sooner rather than later (especially since it’s valued at $210!).
New York Puzzle Company The New Yorker Jigsaw Advent Calendar
Got a parent who’s big into solving jigsaws and reading The New Yorker? Then behold the perfect Advent calendar. This highly giftable set comes (quite impressively) packaged with 24 mini holiday puzzles—each made in the U.S. and featuring 1,000 pieces—that will keep them busy until the big day and beyond.
Uncommon Goods Holiday Scratch-Off Advent Calendar Playlist
This is one of the more creative Advent ideas we’ve seen to date—and for the 2023 season, it’s only $10. The record-shaped calendar is crafted in the U.S. from 50% recycled materials and features scratch-off numbers that reveal distinct QR codes. After you daily scratch and scan via your smartphone, a holiday tune crooned by an emerging artist will download and play. And there are plenty of other Advent calendars worth exploring, from shower steamers to DIY ornaments for kids.
Williams Sonoma Chuck’s Luxury Advent Calendar
Filled with founder Chuck Williams’s favorite things, this exclusive calendar is a luxury item gold mine. Aside from the typical trinkets and treats, like licorice and Bonne Maman preserves, this box also holds Italian herbs and olive oil, as well as candles and ceramic ornaments fashioned in the form of stockpots and fish.
The Best Advent Calendars for Tasteful Treats
Bonne Maman 2023 Limited-Edition Advent Calendar
Chocolates aren’t the only sweets to enjoy in the days leading up to Christmas, and Bonne Maman’s cult-favorite calendar is proof. This year’s theme takes shoppers around the train tracks of a Christmas village, holding 24 delicious vessels of jams and spreads (including one batch of honey). It’s filled with staples like strawberry and raspberry preserves, as well as a few unique flavors such as orange yuzu, grapefruit, and Mirabelle plum with spice. Multiple reviewers who have purchased it in previous years note that the serving in each miniature mason jar lasts well past the new year, too. You’ll want to buy this one sooner than later—it always sells out—and thankfully, it’ll ship in two days’ time if you happen to be an Amazon Prime member.
Compartés Gourmet Chocolate Garden Advent Calendar
Within the tropical walls of the second edition of Compartés Advent calendar lies 24 pieces of premium chocolate all made from scratch by a small team of confectioners in Los Angeles. Each individual candy is decorated with ornamental prints of juicy lemons, pink petals, vines, and shrubbery, matching the colorful exterior of a jungle scene complete with peacocks and other feathered friends reminiscent of a William and Morris panorama, and the sweet or tart interiors are flavored with butter banana, lemon poppyseed, honey lavender, and more. It’s only available to preorder for now, with shipments planned to start on November 1.
Delysia Chocolatier Chocolate Truffles Advent Calendar
You can now preorder this ribbon-wrapped calendar from Austin-based sweets maker Delysia. Crafted by award-winning chef Nicole Patel, these 25 truffles are a serious surprise of complex flavors (we’re talking honey sriracha, rosemary apple pie, and beef Bourguignon) that are designed to be paired with snacks and sips.
Food52 x Maison Boissier Parisian Advent Calendar
Following suit from last year, Food52 has once again teamed up with the iconic French confectioner Maison Boissier to put together an exclusive assortment of sweets. We were right when we predicted this one selling out fast; we’re guessing Francophiles were all over this one. This year’s box is decorated in blue and gold, with chocolate-covered nuts and gummy candies hiding beneath differently sized punch holes reminiscent of holly berries.
Lakrids by Bülow 2023 Gourmet Licorice Advent Calendar
Lakrids by Bülow is famous for its sweet and salty confections. Made in Copenhagen, this year’s decadent box of licorice—constructed with 75% recycled and FSC-certified cardboard—features a gold embossing symbolizing the Danish tradition of weaving Christmas hearts. Inside, you’ll find 24 classic flavors and exclusive varieties, but all are totally gluten- and gelatin-free. “The variety of flavors that this company is able to create is incredible,” one reviewer writes. “You don’t get an overwhelming taste of black licorice…you also get fruit flavors or cookie butter or chocolate.”
McCrea’s Candies Caramels Advent Calendar
Skip the milk chocolate and go straight for a box of McCrea’s best-selling caramels. The Boston-based confectioner is now shipping its holiday box filled with 12 different flavors; surprising highlights include rosemary truffle and black lava sea salt. Each piece is handcrafted in small batches and slow-cooked (the traditional method, with copper kettles) using locally sourced butter, milk, and cream. This year’s box features an illustration by New Hampshire–based artist Cindy Hendrick showcasing ice-skating and woodland animals.
Mirzam Chocolate Spice Route Advent Calendar
From Dubai-based maker Mirzam, this 24-day Advent calendar’s goal is to transport shoppers to where the cocoa beans used to create its chocolates are sourced from (think: Madagascar, India, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, and more). Last year’s box included artwork by illustrator and writer Rawaan Alkhatib, inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem; needless to say, we’re excited to break into this equally illustrious one, too.
Vosges Haut-Chocolat Calendar of Advent
For those with nothing against a classic chocolate calendar: an enchanting Advent by Vosges in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The festive box unveils an even more decadent chocolate-based candy behind each interior door, from sourdough pretzels covered in pistachio toffee to Bulgarian rose raspberry truffles, and some are even crafted in the shape of elves and mushrooms. The decadent exterior showcases a purple townhome dressed in string lights and garland—which, as a grand finale, illuminate and twinkle at the press of a button while “Dance of the Reed Flutes” from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker score plays. It starts shipping November 20.
Whittard of Chelsea Hot Chocolate Advent Calendar for Two
Skip the Swiss Miss and indulge in something a bit more decadent with Whittard of Chelsea’s take on powdered chocolate packets. While famous for its teas (this box here), this Advent calendar dishes out 24 nights’ worth of hot cocoa for two. Discover 12 different gourmet flavors in each of the drawers, from crème brûlée to raspberry ripple, and mix with milk for a particularly creamy, cozy cup. Consider it a gift for the sweetest tooth in your life.
Williams Sonoma 24 Days of Baking Cookies
Opening up this calendar is like walking into the front door of a Paris patisserie, only you’re the head baker. Williams Sonoma tools are wrapped up inside to help you tackle the task. (Spoiler: There’s a sweater-patterned spatula and a whole assortment of cookie cutters shaped like ornaments, snowflakes, and candy canes.) This best-selling box is the gift to give to those with more than one cookie-cutter exchange party planned. For those of us who prefer a less interactive countdown, immediate gratification can be had with the eight-day cocktail countdown box in collaboration with Woodford Reserve.
The Best Advent Calendars for Special Sips
Bean Box 12 Mornings of Coffee
In past years, Bean Box‘s Advent calendar had a wait list of 2,000-plus…so preorder yours now before it sells out. Titled the 12 Mornings of Coffee, the storybook-themed box offers 12 different holiday blends from roasters across the U.S. and includes notes on flavors (including a new medium roast inspired by the chocolate-frosted Yule log cake from Coava Coffee) and proper brewing instructions (though you choose whether you want each blend to arrive ground or in whole-bean form). Then you can enjoy four to six perfect cups as you get closer to Christmas Day.
Davids Tea 24 Trips Advent Calendar
Fight off winter’s chill with a steamy cup each day of December from Davids Tea’s 24 Trips of Tea, a new exclusively packed box to complement its yearly bestseller. Stocked with teas sourced from across the globe—Japanese Sencha, Saigon Chai, Brazilian Maté—it offers up two 8-ounce servings a day for 48 servings total. If you don’t want to stray far from tradition, we’d stick to the original, which is packed with old-time favorites and new seasonal blends. But, any option from the specialty retailer is guaranteed to keep you warm throughout the month. Other options include the matcha-only box and an entirely caffeine-free selection (just in case you don’t happen to pull open the pocket until later at night).
Onyx Coffee Lab 2023 Advent Calendar
Onyx Coffee Lab’s coveted Advent calendar of artisanal coffee returns. You can now preorder its stunning accordion design for a guaranteed arrival by December 1. Each of the 24 pockets holds 2 ounces of whole beans from the award-winning roaster, including exclusive offerings. And new this year, you can tune in to daily videos that walk through the intricacies of every cup, from the harvesting methods and the origin to the producer and even a breakdown of the terroir. By the month’s end, you maybe, just maybe, might find yourself game to become a Q grader.
Palais des Thés 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar
Palais des Thés offers up 24 blends of tea from France wrapped up in cotton bags, including this holiday’s limited-edition flavor, Le Thé Magnifique. Steeping all of these little luxuries won’t cost more than $38, which is why we reckon it’s always quick to sell out. And behind each paper pouch is an inspiring quote to power you through the holidays. One reviewer at Nordstrom heralds the box as a “yearly tradition,” adding they specifically scoop it up for their daughter to enjoy. “She loves picking her surprise tea flavor every morning. The packaging is quite festive also.” And we’d have to agree—the latest box, a lovely blue cardboard, is adorned with sparkling gold and silver foil stars.
Vinebox 12 Nights of Wine
Your choice of two boxes—the reds-only Cozy collection or the Chill box featuring a mixed assortment of whites, rosés, and chillable reds from Italy, France, and Spain—are each filled with 12 tasting-size glass vials selected by sommeliers. The kicker? This Advent calendar has sold out six years in a row, so get it while the getting is good, especially considering it received a major revamp this year.
In Good Taste Wine Advent Calendar
If you want to bring the tasting-room experience home, sign up for In Good Taste’s calendar. Not only does each day offer a new mini bottle to try, but a virtual tasting, too. In an email you can opt into, the company will also send along notes and tips on how to best enjoy the box throughout the month, since it’s stuffed with makers exclusive to the online retailer. Plus you can get it for $20 less if you preorder it anytime before September 30 with the code CHEERS.
Vahdam 2023 Loose-Leaf Teas Advent Calendar

You can preorder now by making a reserve payment of $25 before it officially ships for free in late October. Enjoy the variety of reds, whites, and bubblies yourself, or gift it to the oenophile in your life.

Kiehl’s Limited Edition Holiday Advent Calendar
Cleansers, face masks, facial serums, and more—Kiehl’s Advent calendar once again comes fully stocked with 24 of its best-selling skin-care products. While mostly sample sizes, the entire box is valued at $253, so it’s still considered a steal at $155. The box’s exterior features a collaboration with Icinori’s creative duo Mayumi Otero and Raphael Urwiller, who devised a fantastical urban scene. The Best Advent Calendars for Years to Come
Anthropologie George & Viv Ski Lodge Advent Calendar
It’s hard not to be mentally whisked off to an Alpine village in Italy thanks to this wood-based calendar. The large doors are decorated with numbers in the jewel-toned windows, but also on the front doors to the inn itself, as well as ski rentals and the Calit Cafe. They open and close by a circular track where you stuff any delightful treat of your choosing. Once again thanks to the magic of illustrator Emily Taylor—complete with cutout characters like a polar bear outfitted to hit the slopes—it’s more than a place to sash small gifts throughout the holiday season; we can see it fitting right at home in a vintage Dickens Village display.
L.L.Bean Woodland Advent Calendar
“This calendar is sturdy and well built to last many Christmas seasons and could easily become a family heirloom of wonderful memories,” one reviewer shares of this best-selling L.L.Bean staple. The rustic design features outdoorsy scenes and accessories—cardinals, pinecones, and ice skates—plus plaid and green-painted fronts. Multiple other shoppers gush over the durable construction.
Pottery Barn Lit Glitter Houses Advent Calendar
New to Pottery Barn, this “wintry architectural wonderland” stacks up townhomes and houses, each bejeweled with glittery doors and windows that can stand on their own or be hung on the wall. It also comes with snowcapped sisal trees, but our favorite part is the fact that with the press of a switch, the homes all glow with your chosen contents inside.
West Elm House Advent Calendar
In a sea of West Elm Advent calendars, sometimes the simplest is best. This A-frame’s standout feature is its size. And housed within its nearly 2-foot-tall, lightly stained arched walls are rows of 25 wood houses waiting to be filled.
